Duck Release Pond

My neighbor gave me permission to release my extra male ducks on his private pond, the pond is suffering from an overgrowth of algea and it will be a win win, the ducks will have an abundance of food and can help reduce the algea infestation at the same time. Of course, don't do this on a public water way, it is illegal, but it is perfectly legal to release birds on private property. Lucky ducks to have such a beautiful pond to live on.
Interesting... I just saw *exact* same picture on a real estate site, and it looks like more than one house share the pond, so I'm thinking it might be a problem with the neighbors, and I bet they might be part of HOA with CC&R's.

Serious pond envy.

Not from me... You might want to contact the real estate agent that's selling that property and ask who owns the pond and if the CC&R's allowed fowl on it.

It would appear that casportpony is correct. If you look at http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/9273-Pond-View-Dr_Redding_CA_96002_M13922-50309 you will see that this is a public access pond that is kept stocked for fishing. Then do a Google Earth for the address and you will see that there are at least 8 other houses on the West shore of the pond. There is also a swimming/fishing float in the pond about half way between the house that is for sale and the road to the north. I would be very careful about dumping ducks out there. I suspect that your friend does not actually "own" the pond or the rights to the pond. Your ducks will be at risk and in all fairness they would probably be better off in your freezer where they will benefit your food budget than in a situation where they would likely not be able to survive.

Very funny, the exact photo from the first post is used in the listing. I'd definitely do more research before releasing my ducks there.

Have to admit though that I do have some "very serious pond envy". Would love to have a pond that size on our farm except for the turtles and the water moccasins it would be a great place for our ducks and geese. And the migrating geese that will begin soon. Could not share it with neighbors though.

That's a different situation then if it's some kind of community pond in a neighborhood, instead of someone's private pond on their property.

:) Me too jnt, gotta admit I have some serious pond envy . If my friend is going to get in trouble for letting ducks loose on a community pond, may have to find a new pond. Turned 2 drakes and 2 hens loose on a different pond last year and they disappeared in a couple of months, will have to find that old post, think there were some photos of the ducks.
