duck sick

i opened her bill and gave her half a tums, she seemed to be much more quacking but sounded weird when the quack was finishing if that makes sense. i felt her crop and it was normal nothing hard or abnormal
The calcium helps their vent muscles to contract and will help of they are having soft shelled. Laying issues is usually a sign there is too little calcium in their diet. Does she has access to layer feed or oyster shells?

I would also put her in a bath. It helps with the passing of eggs. Sometimes ducks will go into a pond on their when they are having laying issues.

i let her swim in a deep sink today by herself for about 2 hrs, i gave her half a tum that was 750mg i hope that is good, i hope she is a little better in the morning, i do not having laying feed or ouster shells where do i get those

Your local feed store should have those.

I have 2 ducks with laying issues. One was egg bound but recovered after I gave her a lot of calcium - like, a LOT. The other lays internally. I changed over to layer feed recently, and they have improved. The duck who lays internally is getting hormone implants tomorrow.

I now have to separate my ducks from my chickens as I have 2 roosters and 5 non-laying pullets who don't need the extra calcium. All flock and oyster shell on the side just isn't enough calcium for my ducks. Other folks have no problems with it. I think a lot depends on the individual duck. Some just seem to need more.

That should be good. Not sure if you have her separated out for the night, but I would. You want to be able to tell if she laid an egg overnight. Give her more calcium in the morning.

A lot of people like oyster shells on the side. You can get it at a feed store or TSC. You will need to teach them about the oyster shells. A couple ways to do this are, throwing it around the ground, adding some treats to the oyster shells, adding oyster shells to the feed for a few days.

Layer feed can also be purchased at a feed store. It is probably the easier thing to find. I personally offer oyster shells, some layer feed along with duck feed. Some of my ducks won't eat the oyster shells. They will eat as much as they need and my drakes tend to mostly eat the duck feed.

@HayleyCrum you are getting great advice from @Quatie

Bring your sick duck into the house and keep her safe and quiet where you can give her the extra attention she needs. I have dog crates for sick ducks and use my sun room as a ducky intensive care ward.

Use the Tums as you have been advised but tomorrow buy a bottle of calcium gluconate from Tractor Supply or other feedstore and a 3ml plastic syringe. You can then soak 1ml calcium gluconate measured with the syringe, into dried mealworms or other treat. You need to watch her eat the treat to know that she has ingested the calcium gluconate. Give her another 1ml after 24 hours. https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/calcium-gluconate-for-egg-bound-ducks-preliminary.959537/

Meanwhile get layer feed for your ducks that are laying eggs. As its formulated for chickens, you will need to give your ducks extra niacin. I use brewer's yeast from Josh's Frogs [on line]. My ducks think the brewers yeast is an extra treat. I sprinkle it on top of their food -- 1 tablespoon of brewer's yeast per cup of layer pellets or layer crumbles. ALso buy a bag of oystershell from the feed store and besure that your laying ducks have some in a bowl to help themselves to.
