Duck sitting on eggs and ducklings

I have two Muscovies that have been sitting on eggs for about a month. About 30 hours ago, several of the eggs hatched. Now one duck is sitting on ducklings and several eggs and the other duck is sitting on eggs only. We found one duckling dead yesterday morning and one dead this evening. Is it normal for the duck to be sitting on eggs and trying to keep her ducklings warm in the nest also?
