Duck Starter????

Okay.... So oyster shell also helps correct with the older birds right??? I wouldn't buy any till I have more birds.... But, I have canary grit... would that work? (I know I asked this before...)

not sure what canary grit is, oyster shell is for eggs mainly, there is enough calcium in most GBS that you won't need it, but if you have eggshell problems you can add that in.

Grit helps them digest and the oyster shell is for extra caIcium. The grit you have should work fine for them.(they usually have some calcium added, but I'm not sure if it's enough for coturnix hens) I used to use canary grit for mine too, but now I just use the small grit designed for chicks.(It comes in bulk so it is cheaper) Mine NEED a constant supply of extra calcium, if not they both lay wind eggs within 1-2 days. You can also save and grind up your egg shells instead of buying oyster shell.I hard boil eggs, chop them really fine and feed them to my quail for extra protein.(Duck starter is all I can get here too)

Edited for my bad grammar.
