Hello,

I am new to ducks and I bought four ducklings 3 pekin and 1 mallard.I named
the 3 pekin hidiing,seeking, and peeking.I
was wondering what type of treats to give
them and if they need grit.

Thanks so much

If you feed treats you will need to offer grit. I use pet bird grit buy at Walmart, I just pick out the bits of oyester shell. Good treats are dandelion greens and redleaf lettuce. Just be sure to chop it finely so your ducklings don't choke. A really cool thing to do once it gets a little warmer outside is to set your brooder out on the porch at night for a little while. Leave the heat lamp on in place, it wll attract all sorts of bugs and will be an all you can eat buffet for your ducklings to enjoy!

Ooooh... that's a good idea, Picco. I'll have to try that with my chicks!

neat idea bout the bugs at night! Also, do ducks need nest boxes like chikens? or will they lay eggs in a ground nest?

I feed my pekings scrach grains.... and bread. mostly they need water. alot of water. They do lay ground nests in either hay or dirt, but really they will lay anywhere. They do try to hide the eggs though.
