that’s what i do with mine and it always seems to help. walking on blankets heals them much faster than walking on bedding

I do agree with increasing the soft surfaces for Banana to walk and stand on. My vet told me to do that as well. If the OP is interested I can go into more detail about what I was told to do.

If Banana isn't human imprinted and used to coming inside, though, I imagine that bringing her inside could cause Banana a lot of stress. Even my ducks, who are quite bonded with me, get very upset when I separate them from their flock.

+1 about antibiotics. My ducks used to get bumblefoot and my vet prescribed them antibiotics.

Would you mind sharing what antibiotic your vet recommended for your bird?

Just as a note, amoxicillin, penicillin, amoxicillin/clavulanate should be avoided since the bacteria, staphylococcus aureus( the bacteria that is most often found in Bumble), has become quite resistant to the one's I just listed. A more effective antibiotic for a staph infection would be Enrofloxacin, Cephalexin, Ciprofloxacin, or TMP-SMX.

All of the antibiotics I listed can be purchased online without an RX in a fish/ or bird form.

Regarding bringing the duck inside. That is a personal choice, do understand birds are social creatures, so separating them from the flock may cause a lot of undue stress, which can subsequently affect the proper healing of the Bumble. A soft padded, clean area, can be provided outside quite easily.

My vet prescribed cephalexin. My duck had relatively small bumbles, though.

Would you be willing to start her on antibiotics? The progression of her Bumble is fairly bad. To the point where it may be on the brink of causing osteomyelitis which is quite often hard to treat. If you say yes to starting antibiotics, I can suggest a few to you.

I would, but I don't have the money to spend on them and I try to go the natural route. I have been putting Iodine on my ducks feet and it's definitely a little better.

At the most, you'll be paying, twenty dollars for those antibiotics, and twenty for shipping. The iodine will help, but by no means is going to resolve her problem.

That’s still too much. For now I’m putting her in the duck house full-time with another duck “Bluebelle” who is hurt too. For Banana I put iodine on the foot and I triple folded a small rag and put that on her foot for padding and use vet wrap to hold it together. Tomorrow I will get some Copaiba oil and put that on as well.

That will help her problem, but will not fix it. I can guarantee you the infection is further up her leg. Somewhere the Iodine, and Copaiba oil is not going to reach.
