Duck vs racoon

I recently had a predator get into my chicken coop and it killed 2 pulleys not as big as my hens and cockerel but the next morning I went in the and I seen the duck scared up too I think the duck fought the raccoon off what do you think the ducks eye was badly hurt

Not sure why this is in the peafowl forums... but I doubt your duck scared off a raccoon. My friend just had one break into her main aviary and it killed over 70 of her birds- ducks included- in 1 night. More likely your duck injured itself somehow.

That couldn't of been a raccoon if It killed them in one night a raccoon will only get one maybe two so it must of been a mink or something idk

not true. a raccoon will kill everyone in the coop if it has time. and then be dumb enough to eat too much to get back out.

raccoons fight for territory and mates just as any other animal will.
to find an adult coon with NO marks or scars on it would be extremly rare esp if it was an adult boar coon.
just because it had marks on it does not mean it came from the duck.

I would be inclined to believe it wasn't a raccoon.
they will indiscriminately kill but are less likely to than other predators, around here they like to leave some for the next time they get hungry. That's not to say it wasn't, but I would investigate other possibilities.

I had a coon in one night kill 6 out of 8 chickens. It left the two roosters and killed all the hens. Next night They killed my neighbors chickens and came over to my coop to see if they could get back in. It was shot on sight.
