I had a small Cayuga duckling who appeared to have very very full crop all the time. At 5 days the bird died. did an autopsy (this is why I did not ring little birds neck and put her / him out of misery. ) The crop was not fully attached to rest of digestive track and the food was actually filling the space between crop and outer skin. I am thinking this was just one of those genetic things but wanted to mention it here. All other ducklings are fine.
