I wonder if what your seeing is where something bit her, a spider or bee of some kind. Great news thoughShe is doing much better. The swelling has pretty much completely gone down but she still has the spot and yellowish tint in one area. It's starting to scab up so I think it's continuing to heal. Still keeping with the same routine with the veterycin and triple antibiotic ointment. Thanks for checking up on her!
I am so sorry to hear this, did the vet say this is something unusual in ducks? Giving her good vitamins to keep her immune system up will help, I have no idea if this product will help but have you ever heard of nu- stock this is what it says about it, Non toxic and safe for all animals it is effective on all skin disorders deep wounds cuts and certain growths it says it has been around for 45 yrs. main ingredient Sulfur73% pine oil 2% mineral oil 25%.I keep some in my animals med chest. Might be worth trying. I bought it online and also from our feed store. I'm glad to hear her appetite is still good. Please keep us updated on Pee Wee.The lesion on PeeWee came back about 5 days ago and is worse now then it was the first time. It stayed away for about a week then began coming back more aggressively than before. I started up the routine again of giving her a warm bath, spraying it with Vetericyn, then putting triple antibiotic ointment on it. Unfortunately, it hasn't helped it this time and we took her to the vet yesterday. The vet diagnosed her with LymphomaThe vet said that the lesion wasn't operable because of its location which is underneath her vent and would be highly prone to infection. She projected that PeeWee will be able to fight the cancer for a few months but it will eventually spread throughout. PeeWee continues to behave normally and is still eating and drinking normally. If anyone has any suggestions for medical or natural remedies to help keep her comfortable or to treat the lesion, I would greatly appreciate them. We are very thankful to have PeeWee in our lives even if it isn't for as long as we had hoped.
Thank you so much for giving the amazing update. It's always so gratifying to hear when one makes it and is doing great. Hopefully PeeWee will be with you for many years to come.I've been meaning to give an update on PeeWee for months now but better late than never, right? To recap, the vet diagnosed PeeWee with Lymphoma in November and estimated she would only live a few more months. Well I am extremely happy to report that she is still with other and ornery as ever. After the diagnosis and the recommendation provided by Miss Lydia and Amiga, we started giving her mega doses of Vitamin D. I figured it was a long shot but thought it was worth the trying. I couldn't just do nothing. I had to try. We gave her 500 IU of D3 daily and slowly the lesion went away. I think it took at least a month for it to fully go away. She hasn't had any more lesions and actually has become healthy enough to lay again. She only lays 2-3 times a week but I think it is a very good sign that her body is strong. We continue to give her a mega dose of about 250 IU about 2-3 times a week and I've noticed that if she doesn't get the vitamin for an extended period of time then she doesn't lay. I just wanted to share in case anyone else ever encounters something like this.
Thanks again to Miss Lydia and Amiga for their advice and support!!! You both are amazing!!
