So one of my ducks has a swollen ankle. She had a bumble under the foot which I removed, but now has developed swelling in that foot. Up until yesterday she was limping and I had been doing epsom salt soaks, but today she is not even getting up, using her wings if she needs to move. I gave her a good long soak today in deep water and wrapped her foot up with a concoction I made of fresh oregano, turmeric, honey, and some oil. I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions? I was thinking if maybe I need to drain the pus out - which I wouldn't be squeamish about but don't want to unnecessarily cause problems. Unfortunately a vet is not an option.

Thank you for any help

Possibly I think infected or sprained..

What would be your course of action? I'm a little worried because she was limping at least but now has extreme difficulty getting up. I'm worried she has injured her other foot as well from putting too much strain on it. However the swelling seems to have remained the same.

Well many times the cartilage isn't strong enough with meat Birds so the legs go...:hmm

So? Unfortunately it happens. Pen her to a crate and try some baby aspirin for pain? Time is the best healer.

I only mentioned because you seemed to imply she was a meat bird and her weight was the issue. She has been limping for quite a while now; if i were to guess at least 3 weeks to a month, which is why I also mentioned she was limping but seems to have gotten worse. Do you have any tips for reducing the inflammation?
