Duck with swollen joints

She is so happy that there are no more shots! She loves the meal worms so it’s working out good. I will make her yeast into a mash like you said. I will it the cosamin ds sprinkled in it as well. I just got it today and the epsom poultice. I guess it went to the neighbors and they were gone. I will wrap her joints for tonight with the poultice. She is taking a few more steps here and there. She hates pool time! I think she wants a heated pool! I have to remind her she is a duck!
Let me know if you add the cosamin to yours food and how it goes. I hoe we both see improvements!!

Ugh she did not eat the mash. She has the maturity floating pellets and they just were not like a good mash I even tried some meal worms on top and she took a couple of those off and then left it. I left it so I will see if she eats in the morning. I noticed her walking less today. I wrapped her with The poultice and her right ankle was more inflamed today. Hopefully the poultice will help. It is supposed to rain here tomorrow so I will leave her in her house to rest. I will research tonight for the adequan dose. If I find it I willlet you know.

thank you so much. i hope it’s just a temporary glitch and she’ll be better again tomorrow. 2 of my elderly white layer ducks are having leg problems now with the freezing weather they walk slower and one limps. i’m giving extra little piles of straw for them to lay down on in the yard during the day. and the liquid b complex. i haven’t given anything else yet because sprinkling it on the food would mean all my youngster ducks would eat it too, and I don’t know the exact dose to use a syringe for the glucosamine/chondroitin.
The majestic waterfall sanctuary, which is a great place by the way said they open a capsule and sprinkle it on the food for two ducks so I’m assuming one duck can have half a capsule but they also say that a good dose for a duck is 25 mg and half a capsule is 250 mg so I’m confused

yes me too!! Yours doesn’t make sense either… I did the math on the cosamin ds at 10mg/kg Bonnie is 4.5 Kgs so 45mgs that won’t even register on my baking scale in grams. The bottle shows 2700 mg for 3 capsules so 900 each capsule 1/2 capsule is 450 msg so 45 mgs is minuscule. Am I doing something wrong? I am horrible with dosing stuff. They don’t have an area on their site with meds and dosages listed it’s a difficult site for me to use just by searching in the archives. When they talk about Jeffery and Matthew they say they break open a casule and sprinkle it on their food every evening. That would be 900mgs…what am I missing…Ugh I’m horrible at dosing..

ikr ? I tried sending them a message to ask a question but I don’t think it got through. I thought perhaps maybe there is more than the two ducks eating the food that they’re sprinkling it on but why would they be giving it to all the other ducks?

lol it’s all the same!! I have been sprinkling about a 1/4 of cosamin capsul on her worms. They acted like they gave each duck 1/2 of the capsul..idk I am so bad at this! I got some meloxicam powder for my horse so I posted for help with dosing on that. Hopefully someone will help. I will try sending link again and picture
