The pic I took doesn't do the hole justice. It is a hole, in the pic it looks like a cut. Omg this is horrible. I can't stand to see anything suffer. I'll try to trim the down and get it cleaned up. I'll also try to get a better pic. Can't I make saline solution? And yes I have vetericyn to spray on it. I already sprayed a little on it in a panicked frenzy, . I'm wondering about it going into shock and how to know if it does and how to help it?

The best thing for shock is a dark area with food and water, and not much noise.

Thank all y'all so much. Sorry, Im not gonna lie, I was freaking panicking. I still am a little, but not like 10 minutes ago. I just hope it makes it. The baby seems to have calmed down some too. To me, that's a big hole, about nickel size, on this tiny little body. Should I try to wrap it? I'm out of vet wrap. And don't know of anything else I have to use. I'm sorry y'all, I know I'm a pain in the butt and ask way too many questions, but I'd rather be prepared for everything. Even though, I can't seem to stay prepared for anything.

This might sound cold, but at this point I’ve got used to treating birds (as someone else on here once said quail are exceptionally good at finding new and unique ways to die), so I treat them with what I have on hand, isolate from the rest of the flock, and if it lives it lives, if it dies, at least you tried.

Don’t be wrap just keep the wound moist if you have triple antibiotic that is good to use. Keep it in a quiet spot where it is warm put food and water with it and a soft towel to lay on. Hopefully since your already seeing it calm down gives hope it will make it. I’ve seen much worse in here where good care and treatment got them through. Hang in there and don’t give up put a chick waterer something the little one can’t climb into for water

I'm not to that point yet. I'm too soft for this, I know. But I love them. I love to watch them, hang out with them, talk to them, and yes they talk back duh. . I wish I could be like that, but my heart won't let me. It would rather me cry and panic, even though I don't usually cry anymore when somebody vanishes, but it's been a rough 3 weeks. My first duck died suddenly almost 3 weeks ago, she lived in the house, and she was my bestie, she was about to turn 3 yrs old, and the struggle is definitely real. And this little floofball didn't vanish, even though it was about to...thank God we caught it in time. I do, however, have little baby ducky poop all run down on the inside of my shirt, and a very calm and sleeping little injured baby duck sleeping on my chest. My heart won't let me move it it needs rest.

@Miss Lydia thanks. I don't have the words "give up" in my vocabulary apparently. I'm stubborn and hard headed and don't listen....or so Ive been told ...my whole life ...by different people. . Hopefully this little floofy ball will be ok. It was asleep, and when it woke up, I started singing to it, and it fell back asleep. . It seems better, compared to earlier, it drank a little water, throwed some water in my face, pooped like 87 times in 10 minutes, and is falling asleep again. Thank y'all all so much. I feel like y'all talked me down off a ledge.

You're a gem miss Lydia. A duck shaped gem. A poop colored, duck shaped gem. . The little duck said hey and thank you all!! If this little tiny gem makes it, and I can tell it apart from its 5 siblings, and if it's a girl, pretty sure I'm gonna name her lydia. Oh well, she just started chirping and I'm sure she's looking for her family. What do I do? Should I take her to visit them? Or is that gonna cause her to go ducks gone wild?
