If that does not turn gangrene it might just make a decent peg on it's own. It is ugly but it could be worse. Good Luck..

I think you're right... If that black part falls off before an infection sets in, I think she has a pretty good chance.
Everyone should google "dry gangrene" and "wet gangrene", but be prepared for disturbing images.

Oh, lovely.![]()
I've got another chook also in the sick bay right now, severe blistering from frostbite... Do I need to watch for gangrene on her too?
I just want a completely healthy flock, for once...... Sigh.
Geeze Banti, you're being hammered this month.I'm really sorry!!! I don't know anything about frost bite, but you've got an enormous support group & hopefully someone can give you some good advice... All I can give you are prayers & virtual hugs.
Hang in there!

I know what you mean, I have 3 indoor roosters because of frostbite. I have another rooster I have to take out of the breeding rotation because the idiot hurt his knee....How does a rooster hurt is knee in a 4x8 cage with a low roost 8 inches off the floor?
Idiot bird! Screwed up my hatching because he is a Klutz! I will be glad when the warmer weather hits here next week, just to give them a chance to heal a tad.
Good Luck!
