Duckling Diaries: the Life and Times of a Welshie Trio

Thank you Banti. I know. It sucks. I moved here 27 years ago and this place was really laid back and cool. I came here to slow down and leave the superficialness of California behind. And the expensiveness of it too.

Sadly that has caught up here. I live on the trendy Westside of Bend and it sucks. I am a lowly renter. The wealth here is staggering. The 30 somethings drive German SUVs and the pretty wives trounce around in their yoga pants and go have coffee with their girlfriends while their hubbies make all the money working some tech job from home. But I can't dwell on that. I try and find solitude in the desert out east of here. The traffic is horrendous and I only go out and shop in the early morning to beat the crowds. I get anxious. I am not at all alone in how I feel. So many other very long term residents see it too. It is time for me to go and get to a place with less people and more space and serenity.

Thank goodness for the genuine and loving BURD people here on BYC. You all give me faith that there are kind folks out there.

I don't expect anyone to feel sorry for me. My life is not bad. This place is just my perspective and as a 54 year old BURD CRAZED HEN/DUCK I want quiet.
