Duckling Diaries: the Life and Times of a Welshie Trio

@duluthralphie would want the one in the bottom right corner

That's a big 10-4!

Thank you Banti. I know. It sucks. I moved here 27 years ago and this place was really laid back and cool. I came here to slow down and leave the superficialness of California behind. And the expensiveness of it too.

Sadly that has caught up here. I live on the trendy Westside of Bend and it sucks. I am a lowly renter. The wealth here is staggering. The 30 somethings drive German SUVs and the pretty wives trounce around in their yoga pants and go have coffee with their girlfriends while their hubbies make all the money working some tech job from home. But I can't dwell on that. I try and find solitude in the desert out east of here. The traffic is horrendous and I only go out and shop in the early morning to beat the crowds. I get anxious. I am not at all alone in how I feel. So many other very long term residents see it too. It is time for me to go and get to a place with less people and more space and serenity.

Thank goodness for the genuine and loving BURD people here on BYC. You all give me faith that there are kind folks out there.

I don't expect anyone to feel sorry for me. My life is not bad. This place is just my perspective and as a 54 year old BURD CRAZED HEN/DUCK I want quiet.
Wow! In Bend? That changed pretty fast. Bend was the boonies about 5 minutes ago. I think you need a Therapy Duck. Wouldn't that be awesome!!!

Yes. Sadly it is so. It did change very fast. After the giant recession and as things improved this place exploded.

A Therapy House Duck would be so wonderful. I know he'd keep me calm and grounded. I'd snuggle him.

i'm moving to where you are.
thats fine! lots of space here :)

That is so heartbreaking. It's like you need to have med insurance for your pet or a HUGE wallet. I do not have the latter.
yep, very much so but the breed has a lot of issues

Yar. Bend, Over just expanded its UGB a few months ago. AGAIN!!! Projected growth inside 10 years from now is 35-40k more people and 17k dwellings to house the flood. And the intent is for high density. I AM LEAVING…...

…soon as I retire.
bend has been featured on a LOT of tv shows within the last few years and that certainly does not help them at all
especially that log cabin living and other house hunting shows

and you want call ducks...

Quiet and call ducks never go together
