After watching this, I don't feel too bad. I knew it was a chicken.... That's pretty good for me: no webs, no care

Edit: Now I have also googled pictures of a barred rock rooster to compare. I can see now that by comparison, Ralphie's rooster looks like it has been hit on the head a couple times with a hammer flattening its comb.... I wouldn't rule out that being precisely what happened, but now with this new information, I would first guess a Dominique although that doesn't work with the word play at all.
