Duckling Diaries: the Life and Times of a Welshie Trio

Should we start a thread about "What are you reading?"?

I used to spend a lot of time on a fountain pen collector's forum (still collect them),a nd we had that thread there. It was always so interesting, because folks would be reading things you hadn't heard of or considered...

Sounds like you all like reading a lot of historical stuff. I can only handle so much of that. I like mystery and even some Steven king, I do like biography or just stories about people's lives in general. I also like some religion stuff like Joseph Prince, his book destined to reign changed my life. I also read the shack a long time ago before it was a movie and it was pretty life changing too.

I would refer you to my earlier post. I love fiction. But I have issues with not putting it down that interfere with showing up to work and making a living. My compromise with my obsessive self is to read non-fiction (easier to put down and digest in smaller bites) while in normal working mode, and fiction is the special treat I get on vacation when it doesn't matter if I stay up reading until 7am...

I love historical stuff. It's so fascinating. Do have to admit I enjoy Sci-Fi too.

Please do. I'll join.

Ugh. That must take a lot of patience.

But let me put it this way, if it at all matters: I am almost 50 years old, and I have never forgotten the lady who collected the lunch trays in the cafeteria, who let me hang out with her for the rest of the lunch period. I was about 7 or 8 years old. She was kind to me, and I have never ever forgotten it.

I kinda think that's why we are here - to make a difference. And you can find a way to do it no matter what you spend your time doing in life. :thumbsup
It does matter ! Thank you. That almost made me cry. I have been doing this for 12 years and have had a heart for so many who come and go and sometimes kids will tell us stuff they wouldn't tell their teachers or parents and it can be heart breaking. But I have to think that if I am the one person who will stop to listen then I must take time to be that person. I hope I make a difference!

You do! You do!!!!

We ALL do. Smiling and saying how are you at the check out, or letting someone in front of you in traffic, or holding the door, or smiling at a stranger. It all matters.

(FWIW, here in Texas, we smile and talk to complete strangers all the time. It's a big city, but it is a really, REALLY friendly one. When I'm a Tractor Supply, any random person walking in will stop and start helping me load my car. It's just normal expected behavior. I couldn't bear not to live in a place like this.)
