Oh! Plus the second egg hatched & he was just fine! All dry & very much what I had expected, I didn't even get to turn the heat down before he was zipping.

I have had exactly one hatch of ducks, but I thought it looked like they had more waste in their eggs than chooks. 
My hatch was pretty clean though so that's the only difference I saw.
Oh, you evil meanie. I haven't hatched in almost a year now and those baby peeps are killing me.So, I went home after reading that link Banty showed me. This little guy was still in the incubator & was standing & walking around trailing the rest of his innards behind him. I washed him in a bowl of warm clean water in the bathroom sink & with the mini heater running on the edge of the sink, I went to work with q-tips, disinfectant, ointment, & tweezers. Bandaged him up finally & hoped for the best. I was SO sure I would wake up to my first Ayam Cemani hatch dead.
He made it through the night, so here's to hoping he is stronger every day.
