Duckling Dropped Dead in Front of Me

It just seems so weird that a beautiful healthy-looking duckling would suddenly fall over like that and die instantly. That one has now been buried but if any more do it we might have to get vet involvement.

Well, if nothing else (and assuming you live in the USA) you could try contacting your state's Dept. of Agriculture. There's a decent chance you could get a free (or at least much lower cost) necropsy to find out what happened.

She lives in Tasmania. I had a young Muscovy duckling die from what I assumed heart trouble but she showed signs of trouble pretty early. Didn't move around much at all just laid around mostly by 4 months she was gone. They can usually hide any health issues pretty good.

I had a 9 yr old Brahma Hen who seemed healthy in every way drop dead while heading up the hill behind our home to forage with the rest of her flock mates. You kind of expect it from the old ones. Really hard when they are only 4 months old.
