Duckling found

I wish I lived near you, I'd take that baby in a heartbeat. Here's what you can do while you work on finding a home for the little darling. Put either old towels/rags or one of those sheets of rubber shelf liner in the bath tub. Set up a feed dish and water dish side by side at one end of the tub ( I always set them up at the drain end), set up a lamp on tote bin or table at the other end of the tub (outside the tub with the light aiming into tub for warmth). Stick a mirror in there for the little one to befriend..the duckling will think it's another duck and talk to it as well as cuddle up to it when sleepy. Ducks poop a lot so be prepared. When I keep ducklings in the tub, I use the rubber shelf liner and at cleanign time I put duckie in the sink w/ a bit of warm water to play while I hose the tub down. Once tub is clean I dry it with an old towel, dry the liner with towel and lay everything back out then retrieve duckie from sink, dry with towel, coo at it, kiss and hug it, play for a while then back into tub. I've done it with 7 ducklings so far and it always worked out fine :)

So is Soccer Mom going to get the duckling?? It really shouldn't be put back where it was found, and if it is a Muscvoy, it's not a wild breed.... If it is a wild duck, OOOPS! Didn't know anything about it being a wild duck!! well, it's here now

It is very obvious from the pictures that this duckling does not qualify as "wildlife." While I can't be sure which breed(s) this little cutie is, a ducky with bright yellow fluff will have white feathers; so it has to be some breed of domestic duck. If it doesn't have an owner, that makes it feral, same as a stray cat or dog. Feral domestics are considered nuisances in some areas, so I say, "finders, keepers!" If you can keep him/her, congratulations, if you can re-home it, also good; but by no means should it be abandoned to fend for itself again.

Second: while you would expect fuzzy yellow ducklings to feather out white, in Muscovy, if there is a bit of color on the end of the tail, as in the pic posted of this one, then your duckling will feather out barred. Now this little guy has a pink bill while most barred Scovy have grey ones, soooo that would make me question weather or not we have a Scovy here, mixed breed or different breed than I first thought based on the 2 pic's posted. NOT that I'm getting picky.

Well, I don't know from nothin' when it comes to Scovies!

I wasn't sure if the color on the tail was color or - um- dirt. I've had quite a few Pekins this age, sometimes they get their tail fuzz grungy (from propping themselves up while they learn to balance on their feet, I guess)

That pink bill threw me, I've never seen a duckling with a bill that color. It doesn't look quite like a Pekin to me, although feet that big suggest something in the size range of Pekins or Muscovies. I take it we are agreed that it can't be a wild duck, just based on its fuzz color?

And thanks for the welcome!
