Duckling hatching

We helped it a bit because the membrane had started to stick, it’s nearly out now. It was in the wrong position so it couldn’t get out but we got it to the point where it should be able to get out itself.

Hi again one of the other eggs has pipped at the wrong end of the egg, any advice

Most times, they can still hatch on their own. But remember, if it missed the air cell, it may take longer. Since they normally spend several hours inside the air cell before breaking the shell, a wrong-end pipper may need this extra time that it has skipped before it fully hatches. So try not to rush it.

The thing about the wrong end is “where”. Ones closer to the tip seem to have a little more problem, because they are probably not curled up properly, in order to do the rotation to zip. Or the tip can sometimes just be too tight to rotate.
Keep an eye on the membrane. That’s your key. If it stays white to wet-gray looking, it’s fine. You dont want it to turn tan/brown, which would maybe mean its stuck in its position and can’t rotate.

Can you post a pic?

Oh, congrats on the ones that have hatched already!! :clap
