Duckling Not Thriving

I am also having a duckling that is not thriving. It was always the runt but is not gaining at all like the others. I do see the duckling eating and drinking just not growing. Also, tonight I noticed it seems to have an eye infection in one eye. I started medicated drops (they were prescribed by a vet for a different duck I have, last year). Should I give it some nutridrench? How much? Also was wondering about separating but don’t want to add stress. It’s so sad to see a little guy just not growing.

Def put Nutri drench tiny drops into the bill not down the throat and add some to the drinking water. Directions on the bottle for dosage.

Can you post a pic of the eyes. Have you noticed any of the others pecking at him?

Ok, I got a few small drops of the nutridrench into the side of his tiny bill. Also added a few drops to the water. The eye is looking considerably worse this morning but I think a few days of the ciprofloxacin drops will help. I could always start an oral antibiotic if it progressively gets worse, right? I do not think that this one got pecked at. The funny thing is that he’s very spunky and active. It’s a call duck and his bill in particular is super tiny. I added a low dish of water (also with nutridrench) because he’s so tiny I was watching and saw that he kind of had to reach up and then down to get his bill into the dish of water I had in there. The others are taller so it’s no problem. But maybe he wasn’t able to properly clear his nostrils and something backed up or festered into the eye? I’ll post a pic. Thanks for the help! It’s much appreciated. This one could not zip all the way out of the egg so I had to assist and I’d hate to loose him.

Make a saline wash with 1/8 teaspoon of salt to a cup of warm water you can either wash out the eyes by just pouring over or use a warm wash cloth and let it sit on the eyes to soothe. There is also Terramycin eye ointment TSC that can help.

Bless it's heart I sure hope the lil one makes it too.

How old and post a picture beside another.
He’s about a week and a half old. I will post a pic today.

Thank you! The eye is doing better, thankfully! This little guy is strong! When I put the eye drops in and give him some nutridrench it takes a lot to hold him still in my hand. He’s smaller then my hand but struggles like crazy. Very active but very tiny. Fingers crossed!

Just wanted to update...the little guy is doing great! The eye is all cleared up and he’s put on a tiny bit of weight. I took a couple pics last night to show the size difference. The little one is very strong and active so I think he’ll be ok.
