Hi, I have two Blue Swedish male ducklings that are about 12 days old. One of them is having some sort of panic attack seizures. Sometimes when I go to grab it to clean their habitat out, he runs for a short second then falls over on his back or side with his neck in an unatrual position. After about a minute he will sit up and then walk while stumbling then he'll be completely normal and happy. This has happened 3 times. What is causing this and will it persist his whole life? Could he eventually die from this? If he does die or become permanently paralyzed, his brother will be by himself so should I get another duckling just in case?

Welcome to BYC.

Are they crested and what do you feed them? It would be helpful if you could post pictures and video. To post video, upload to YouTube or vimeo then copy and paste the link here

This has happened to my ducks and many other ducklings here on BYC. I think there is some connection between their forming nervous system and overstimulation. Please go to tractor supply and buy liquid vitamin b complex. Give your bird 1mL a day. All of your ducklings can have 1mL a day. It’s good for them while they are growing. It should go away after about a week on the vitamins. Please keep us updated on how your little ones are doing. You aren’t alone, some of us have been there. It’s kinda heart wrenching to watch.
:hugs

Thank you everyone for the replies. It happened again today outside and I got a video of it.
I'm feeding them medicated chick and turkey starter-broiler. It has .0250% amprolium. My grange was out of duck starter so I got this. Should I buy something different? Would I administer the 1 ml of vitamin b complex through their food?
