Heh. I handturn all 54 duck eggs in the incubators because I was told the likely misinformation they do better that way.

I lock them up at night and cold/undesirable days though.

Someone should buy me an auto turner so I don’t have to
manually turn 2 dozen eggs 5x a day.

Awww, thank you so much for the concern. I should've been more clear....he didn't pass away. Just became a teeny drake, that's all.

Here you go! Wasn't any larger than the only hen in the group.

Surprisingly, yes, 6 drakes to 1 female worked out great. She kept them in line, and switched "husbands" daily. Each day brought a new favorite. Now, all she has to choose from is the Indie.

I usually hand turn a full incubator of chicken eggs, just no time at the moment. I’ve never tried guineas before though.

On very cold or nasty nights we lock ours up too. There always seems to be a few we have to catch on top of the coup, or a few younger birds that are either too dumb or to afraid of the alpha crew to enter the hen house. So we end up collecting birds off the roosts in our run and placing them in the hen house. I just can walk in the warm dry house while the choose to sit in the rain ‍

I heard the turners place the duck eggs too close to the heating element? I do 3x only because I don’t have time for 5, always heard minimum 3 but with pets and a family there is just no way
