Duckling Thread!

That's beautiful Bob. Your breeding to the breed standard which I really awesome. Yep I always thought Rhode Island Reds were the chickens with the huge combs. Or do they have rose comb too?
RIRs have a single comb here's a write up on the RIWs. I prefer to raise threatened and critically endangered breeds, but breeding stock is really hard to come by and expensive. I finally had a shot at cotton patch geese, but just couldn't do $25/egg and still have a feed issue. As much as I hate tucker, it's what I can get. They've started advertising that they're coming out with a Duck/Turkey starter, but no ingredient lists or analysis yet.

If they'd just leave the pork out I'd def buy it instead of driving so far for mine. I think I'd just have to wait and see on that decision.

I think that is awesome you want to help the critically endangered breeds.

Duck turkey starter sounds interesting. Hope it works for you.

Thanks for that information They sound like a really nice breed. I hope you can help keep them going.

So you want to hear the bad news or the good news?

The good news is my Muscovy ducklings are doing great! :)

The bad news is all of my Khaki Campbell hatching eggs are doomed!!! :( :hit :hit :(
They've been in the incubator for 6 days and not a single one of them has started developing!!! :( I was pretty certain they wouldn't make it, but I tried to have hope anyways. :( Well, it was all for nothing! :hit
:hit:hit:hit
There goes $122 down the drain!

If you haven't tossed them, I'd give them more time and see what happens. Sometimes they'll surprise you. Here's hoping :fl:jumpy
