Duckling with curly feathers photo update

Mom
I would not have guessed Muscovie! Honestly, it looked like a Call Duck to me!

I'm curious about the genetic side of this, or if it's a defect. Are the parents related? How old are they? Is this their first clutch and if not have they produced other babies like this before?
Mom and dad are not related. She had another clutch prior and one died the other five are thriving.

Little Hoosier “curly feathers” Is doing good. Waking better but not totally up on its feet yet. The eyes are still not open, just small slits, so I think it’s blind. It’s now able to find its way to the food and water. It’s much smaller then it’s siblings. And YES, the feathers are still curly ( except the back and tail-so it looks like it has a Mohawk). I’m doing water therapy, leg exercises and believe it or not, message.

He got a perm before arriving for the event ;)

That made me laugh out loud. Thanks for the reply. I’m new at this thread posting and really want to keep those interested updated.
Wondering what his feathers will grow in like when he loses the down. I’m thinking probably normal but please update us if they don’t- I love seeing odd birds on here.
