duckling with hurt leg

I feel kind of evil right now because I find myself eager for spring and sort of rooting for lost/orphaned ducklings that I can rescue and cuddle for a day or two before taking them to a wildlife rehab place. They're so tiny, fuzzy and cuuuute.
perhaps scheduling a supervised visit to a petting zoo will help you get a grip

Why do you want to do that? Why don't you just get some and keep them? You seem to be very interested in ducks.

I have a really bad living space for keeping adult ducks. I'm in the suburbs, surrounded by neighbors. No fenced back yard. Full time job. Elderly relative.

Keeping a few ducklings overnight is doable. Keeping ducks or ducklings long-term would be difficult at best and likely involve compromises that would be cruel to them (keeping them indoors locked in a cage for hours at a time). I'm not going to get animals for which I cannot properly care.

update....duckling is walking much better, but with a pronounced limp, & standing a lot more, but is quick to squat down....she has also been seen stretching that leg out straight toward the rear like the other ducklings are doing....hobbles are off & I really didn't leave them on long, close to a day,.....they seemed to cause more concern with harming the duckling then helping it, she kept getting stuck with both legs straight out behind her & had a difficult time getting her feet back under her....maybe, on a different surface & separated or with a little more time, I can see they would work to fix a duckling with splayed feet....I think mine was walking splay footed because of the injury & as it heals she's started walking with no splay footedness....

first pic is the injured duckling, the back chocolate....you can see a little swelling in the ankle, as compared to the blue male's leg....

other two pics show her standing & are there for the cuteness factor....

They are adorable love Runners! Okay I would make sure she has plenty of time to recover and I'd get them all on the B complex just very important for their legs while they are doing the most growing they have this added nutrients. You could try some nice warm Epsom salt wraps for the ankle area. Take a wash cloth soak in warm ES water wring out till the water isn't running and wrap ES is great for inflammation and swelling,

ducklings have been moved to a bigger pen....a dog crate covered in netting so they can't squeeze out....
