Any more this morning?

I think my inexperienced mom just thought if she peeped at me enough I'd go away.

Okay big question for you since you have just went through this, how long did it take for all the egg to hatch? because i am worried about the 2 that have hatched they need to have water and food? one hatched Tues eve. the other sometime Wed. before 7am... Thanks just a little worried.

Hi Miss Lydia. With mine, I woke up in the morning and a few had hatched. By the next morning, the rest had hatched and she left the nest with 3 eggs still in it.
You can put food out for the little ones. I put baby size feeder and waterers the day they started hatching so mom wouldn't be surprised. I would just put them by mom's feeder and she will show them. I had been using a dog bowl for mom and even the second day the babies were jumping into it.
Was she the only one who was laying in the nest? She should stay as long as she is thinking more will hatch. My previous runner hen stayed for 4 days.

She is in my new broody hatching house [used to be a storage building] but she is in a large dog crate with the door open. I offered her water and she drank some then I took the waterer and put it inside on a slab of wood to keep it out of the shaving close enough to her that she can show them where the water is, I didn't put food in there yet just because with her mound theres not alot of room, will offer that tomorrow. i was just especially concerned for the first one that hatched. actually 35 days isn't till Sunday, but she started sitting on the nest at night before committing full time so I guess these 2 had a head start. I don't know. I am going to cut 2 hole in the top of a plastic container once she brings them out right now they have just the small chick waterer. You'd think i'd be an old pro at this having ducks for so long but up until last year our last ducklings were hatched 4 years earlier. and last year I was mama duck lol How are you little ones doing?

Glad to hear all is going well so far.
Mine are growing like weeds. I'm seeing size differences between them but don't trust it yet to guess at sex. I am very curious to see what they will end up looking like.

How did I miss THIS thread?

Okay, those ducklings are WAY cute! What breed are they? They look huge! Scovies?

Yes Scovies just hatched when pics were taken. They look so tiny to me when looking at my adults. but harder to believe that my boy Opie was ever that tiny when looking at him now...
