Ducklings died and I’m not sure why. Please help!

@ruthhope "save a chick" is electrolytes. you can buy it at feed stores.
Yes Save a chick is electrolytes but it doesn't contain glucose. Pedialyte does. I suggested buying pedialyte is safer than adding sugar to Save a chick electrolytes.

I have both Pedialyte and Save a chick in my ducky first aid kit [although I haven't used them]. I just bought the Pedialyte as my two recently rescued pekins were severely dehydrated. I think I would have been better to use Pedialyte in their drinking water for a couple of days until they were rehydrated. We managed without and they survived but it made me think!!

Update on my home incubation spraddle duck....

Don’t worry he’s not dead! This is how it started with hobbles, it was rough yesterday constantly watching and helping him all day. View attachment 3121594

But today he is doing so good! Keeping his legs under him while he lays and even walking around! Pics fuzzy cause he wouldn’t stay still lol Gahhhh we’re so in love with him

I’ll keep pedialyte in mind!

I think it’s so awesome you do the rescues. I saw the 2 you just got on another thread, poor things! But I know they’re in good hands now!

Okay I'd never heard of adding sugar to save a chick that is what thru me off.

@Miss Lydia im sorry to keep bugging you!! But I’m am just a paranoid Patty after losing those 2 babies.

Is it too much to be giving ducklings save a chick and vitamin b complex in their water as well as nutritional yeast in their feed?

If you have one that is having problems with their legs then the liquid B complex is the way to go but it can also be used to give the niacin they need. If they aren't having problems then the Nutritional yeast is fine to use so they get the niacin they need.
So it isn't necessary to use both at once. I have never used save a chick only poultry nutri drench so I am not sure what all is in it. I'll have to go read up on it. If it's only for hydrating but they are drinking good they probably don't need it.

So in this case with the spraddle leg should I do vitamin b complex in their water and just normal feed, no nutritional yeast?

I usually only give save a chick the first 2 days or so, next time I fill up water I won’t be using it.
