I have two crested ducklings I picked up from someone on Craiglist. They are about 5-6 weeks old.

Here they are today, taking their nap. Biter (the black) is almost 1.5 times larger than Poof (the fawn). They are from the same hatch. I saw the father, he was an average sized black duck, but I didn't see the mother. Does anyone know if it is common for ducklings from the same clutch to grow at such different rates?

Very cute. Little snugglers.

So cute! Love how they lay their heads down...my 2 grew differently. It seemed like for a while, Quackers was big and Cheese was little, then they’d switch. Now full grown, Cheese, the drake, is 1/3 bigger than Quackers, the duck.

Thanks. We are hoping for two ducks but we'll see. My first batch of 3 ended up with 3 ducks so I have had luck in the past.

Update:
Had a playdate outside with my kakhi cambell and some wild mallards that have been keeping her company until the babies can stay outside with her. If only there wasn't snow and 20 degree nights they'd be in the coop now for sure.

Plastic cups are so interesting!
In the sun, Biter's head looks distinctly green under the black chick fluff. Uh oh... Looks like we have a little drake I think. Fingers crossed that Poof is a girl or I may need a few more hens.
