One 4 or 5th day prior to 28 days my Brinsea water level went dry 😥. Filled as soon as I caught it. 3 days prior to 28 yesterday afternoon I had some pips poking out and cracking the hard shells. One came no issue, the second two could not seem to break free and "shrink wrapped" as I've read. Gently I slowly made sure they could breathe and wiggle loose with bodies in the shell as much as possible. All three seem to be fine, just not wanting the drink yet (almost 24 hrs).

Ive two eggs left and my major concern is the one who pipped the shell last night (24hrs maybe more). The pipe did not break the membrane. Had I not left the incubator go dry I wouldn't have been as concerned and left it up to nature. Nevertheless I did light up the egg and verify the air pocket at the pip and gently poked a small hole through so the little fella would have a good chance of breathing. Now about 16 hrs later I see almost zero progress. Still peeping and wiggling but I'm afraid to do more for fear I could start bleeding and hurt the embryo or duckling.

Taking the dry conditions prior to an early hatch how long should I wait to break shell or membrane? I'm very worried as this feels like operator error here!
I have one egg w/o any visible pip of shell cracking. It does respond and wiggle and I prefer to NOT mess with it but oh Lawdy what have I done here! Please offer me your expertise here to save these little lives from my ignorance and help avoid reckless behavior on my part!

Thank you al kindly. So far it looks like one Cayuga and maybe 2 Rouen. They all appear healthy with no visible signs of deformity or open bellies.

I'd moisten the membrane with some coconut oil if you can? How does the membrane look? White or brown? Do you see any veins? As long as they can breathe they will be fine, they have plenty of water and food in their system to last a few days.

Maybe 30 hrs since the shell was popped. 24 with a small hole mainly created by myself. Membrane is white and brown (drying out).
I dimpled the shell after application of coconut oil and softened up the membrane and left them sit in the incubator for several hours. No progress but not from a lack of him trying! I completely understand unzipping now (maybe lol) as I could see him trying to work the membrane and shell with little to no progress. On top of a heating pad and warmdry washcloth I gently freed the membrane and little at a time. Very little if any blood. I got them half out and added more coconut oil after some delicate removal of the thick viscous membrane. No wonder the little fella couldn’t get through.
So back in the incubator for two more hours and then he started to pop free of the shell. He struggled his way out and took little breaks peeping the whole time.
I removed him again from the warmth at midnight and gently examined the shell and his tummy, no blood or opening beyond what I’ve seen before!! So stay warm under the heat plate on soft cloth and making a ton of noise peeping like a mad-hatter. After a little skin contact and snuggle he finally fell asleep and is resting well with a temperature under the plate (shooting a beanie baby under there for temp) of around 99-100 degrees. I will lift the plate after a few more hours to achieve a temp around 98-99 F.

I guess I need to read up again on temperatures and steps to bring them down slowly. It’s been a while and this caught me off guard completely!

Thank you all so much for the words of wisdom and excellent advice. He is very tiny!

This duck bacterial illness is also known as infection with Pasteurella anatipestifer, viral serositis, and New Duck disease. Infection with anatipestifer causes high mortality, weight loss and damnation. Readiness, eye discharge and diarrhoea are usually seen in the acute phase.
