Ducks and chickens?

Are they getting oyster shell on the side for the layers?
Starter crumble would be ok for ducklings, but then you would need to supplement with niacin.

I know you can keep ducks and chickens together but is there anything to be warned about? Do they eat the same feed? Do I need to have a little duck pool IN the run because we are free ranging our chickens and would with ducks. But some days we don’t free range if there was a predator or we were too busy! And how big of a pool do we need? And where would be the best place to get ducklings! Are drakes like roosters? Do they crow? I’ve done some research but I want more than one source and I think this would be a good place. Any other info would be appreciated!

Very pretty. Do you still house yours separate when not free ranging? Or have you put them together now that their grown? I lost track of your ducky thread
:frowLong time warranted hello how are you?!
That particular flock of chickens is 101% free- feral but connie friendly. They are basically misfits/outcasts from our breeding houses and egg house with the exception of the cockerels and 1 adult rooster.. The chickens (12-ish) sleep in a tree almost right above the duck house. The ducks are under lock and key after sundown. The chickens are protected mostly by patrolling K-9.
The 2 species respect each others company. They mingle gracefully.
Thank you to the :bowOP for giving us the opportunity to have this conversation.:)

Howdy.. I is doing ok
Your ducks are huge now.

I have 2 black sweedish ducks with my 9 chickens. I set up a dog house of sorts for the ducks and they would not use it. They just slept on the ground in the straw. I was worried about the winter cold and then one evening I went out to check on them and the ducks we're in the chicken coop. Now they sleep on the floor of the coop. The coop is big enough so that they don't have to sleep under the chickens. No problems so far.
