Ducks are not laying and have not for the whole summer, isn't this strange?

I apologize for not getting back sooner, yes fracking is where large amounts of water are injected deep into the ground to force the release of petroleum, like gas (not gasoline, the stuff like natural gas) and oil. There are reports that in areas around fracking operations, there are health problems with people and other animals. It was an outside possibility, but it could happen.
I am not sure what fracking is. No mining. No construction. We are sorta around a field that may be sprayed. The field is behind our backyard, then we have a privacy fence separating and the ducks pen is in the front yard. We have always used he same hose, so I don't think that is it.

Quote: As a general rule of thumb: under a year old, expect an overabundance of males. Over one year old, you stand a much better chance of getting females. Over two years, you're entering the prime of the animal's breeding life. It would still hold true whether or not they have brooded before, it's age that influences the genetics there. Best wishes. :)

We still do not have eggs. I will let everyone know when we get a egg... Keeping our fingers crossed.

No duck eggs yesterday (again) and only got 3 chicken eggs (all from newbies). I'm worming the chickens today to see if that helps. If it does the ducks are next.

Let us know if it changes anything. My daughter's friend's mom is thinking to turn all the laying chickens into meat. She has tons of chickens and she is only getting like 3 eggs compared to her usual 3 dozen a day. This has been for the last half of summer. Which is the same as us. Have yours been laying sparingly for the last month? Or just a few days?

This has been ongoing all summer. I went from getting 15 - 18 per day from 21 hens down to 1 - 6 per day. I did find some hidden nests that had as many as 25 eggs (it looked as though the same 4 hens were laying). I do have 7 hens that are almost 3 years old now. I haven't seen anu evidence of worms and the girls look like they are at a good weight but I'm at a loss as to what else could be affecting them. I have a barnyard mix of Black Sex Links, EEs, Isa Browns, Marans, etc.
