DUCKS ARE STARTING TO PIP ABOUT 2 DAYS EARLY. SHOULD I LOCK DOWN? HELP PLEASE!

They aren't really wiggling anymore. It's weird. The shadow and pip thing probably happened at least a day ago. I haven't messed with them. I am not acting like a child. So, no opening and closing and touching eggies going on here. Is this normal? Everything looks good climate wise in the incubator.

We have 6 external pips out of 11 eggs so far. My question, should I put a safety hole for the others that haven't externally pipped, or wait 12 hours? Or just leave them be until the end of the hatch? They are all in the air cell and internally pipped over 24hours ago.

It is recommended to make a safety hole between 18-24 hours after internal pip, after that the baby could be at risk. So I would go ahead and give them safety holes at this point, are you confident in doing so?

(just remember, ducklings take longer to hatch out than other chicks)
After safety holes, they may slow down as it is the dropping oxygen levels which causes them to break the shell, safety holes are often the right thing to do, but it can mean they will be slower to external pip! So don't panic if they take their time.

thank you! I am scared to put holes but I have prepared and I mean I myself have given birth so how hard can this be? LOL! This is way harder.

Happy Easter to you and your family :) ✝️:jumpy:bun

I will try this in a few more hours just to make sure. If they are in the AirCell and you can see the beak, then they have internally pipped, correct?

8 have now pipped and you can follow my story on Instagram if you want to see pictures and updates. @a_marie_rao is my handle. Warning, I am a goof ball. Just silly. Nothing offensive nor inappropriate.

9 pipped and none have actually hatched yet. 2 more to pip on the outside! I don't think I need safety holes for the other 2. They should pip soon since the others are doing it early.
