Hi Backyard Chicken's Community,
I wanted to share what worked for us with our duck. She had a lump on her middle bone and was limping. We first soaked her feet in epsom salts. Not sure if that helped.
What clearly helped was washing the foot with hydrogen peroxide, drying it, then putting Neosporin generously, top and bottom. We then put a few gauze squares under and over the foot, then non stick pads under and over those, and wrapped it with waterproof medical tape. We made sure to leave the toe nails out so she could use them. It was snug, but not squeezing the foot. We wound the tape around her ankle to keep it secure and it worked well. We changed it each evening. She got into the routine of it, standing up while we unwound the tape. We had to put her on her back on our lap to clean and put a new bandage set on. Her partner was stressing so we lifted him on the chair next to us and that made a big difference. One of us held a firm hand on her belly and that seemed to help.
The bandages helped her walk more comfortably which was great. They both seemed to appreciate the care and improvements. By day 3 she was standing for me to unwrap so she didn't have to be on her back.
Would be nice to find the cute little duck boots, but this was a good home remedy.

thank you!
