Ducks ey closed and coughing

I just wanted to share my garage pen. It's 5'x8'x3' The inside is lined with pond liner to protect the wood from getting wet. The rest is scews, 2x4s and chicken wire. I put pine shavings on the bottom and scoop out the turds every morning.

Here is a youtube video of the pen and my daily routine..

Love your geese. How sweet! Thanks for sharing.

His eye is better today but still has the cough. It seems like when he quacks that's when he coughs. What can I do for his cough?
if it's respiratory then a round of antibiotics would be in order. you know how if we have a sore throat or respiratory and we talk too much it can make us cough well most likely that's what is going on with your drake. I'm not sure other than antibiotics is safe to give for a cough. Did you bring him into the basement? I'm going to see if there is anything natural that can be given to water fowl for a cough.

Hmmm I don't know what to do with him. Where can I order antibiotics online? Should I deworm or treat respiratory? If I decide to take him to the vet it's an hour and half drive and can't go till Friday. Ugh

Okay Casportpony who I think has alot of Knowledge about bird med would say order Baytril here is one link she gave me, http://www.ladygouldianfinch.com/product_baytril.php

for worming you want to use Valbazen or Safe guard both will kill gape worms. whether he has them I have no idea. but with a eye that was shut how is it looking today actually? I'd say go with Baytril I'll see if i can get her to give her opinion.

His eye looks great today. No goop or anything. Just the cough but acts normal. So baytril for respiratory? Would it hurt anything if I treated him and it wasn't respiratory or worms? Let me know what to order for the worms and I'll get that ordered tonight. Should I treat the other 3 as well? They don't have symptoms.

Go ahead and order the Safe Guard for goats. you can treat all 4 of them for worms Safe Guard is very safe. the baytril I would only use on your drake you'll have to figure out how your going to administer just to him. I have used a small piece of bread and put meds inside wrapped the bread around it and given that way and also poured the meds on the bread and given it that way . you can use a syringe with out a needle and just put it right inside the bill never down the throat unless you know what your doing.

How old are they? I don't think it will hurt him but it may if you don't unless you can figure out this isn't respiratory and about the only way to do that would be to see a vet.
We're not vets all we can do is suggest given the symptoms. Another member has a duck that has been coughing and she tried 2 other antibiotics and neither helped then she got her vet to prescribe baytril last I heard today she was already getting better. I'll find the link for you.
