Had a friend who's neighborhood has a pond full of ducks and geese. She noticed one of the ducks was swimming low and not very well. When it got out of the water it wouldn't walk and hobbled if it did. She called someone in August and the animal rescue put her on with a 911 call. The fighfighters and cops came and tried to catch it but to no avail so they just said itd be fine. Well my friends son managed to catch it and brought it to me.

So it had two puncher looking things on one foot. One was bigger then the other. The biggest one I pulled the plug out of and it was huge and condensed yellow. Blood came out but no puss. The best plug came out it was black and smaller. No blood or pus came out of this one. I pulled some black substance outta the that one with tweezers. The foot with the plugs is huge and swollen to a point were it flops over backways and she cant move it at all. I poked it in some of the swollen spots with a needle I was able to drain a little puss. Poking in the tow are resulted in blood so I know theres still blood flow. The other is foot is crippled and had bumble on the bottom of her foot. Fixed the bumble and dressed it. On all the wounds I put lavender, antibacterial chicken spray and some herb salve I have. Put a cotton pad on the bumble and wrapped it not to tight in case of swelling. The other foot I dressed and put bandages on to made sure it was converted figured wrapping a swelling foot wasn't good. I have her in a crate with food and water I also have her but I drench. She probably doesn't know how to eat feed so I will monitor that. She has decent amount of weight for a sickly duck I thinks she will do well and hopefully i can fix the one foot. Any help is appericated!

I had her on antibiotics for a few days this was a few weeks ago. That definently helped. I was draining the swollen leg of pus clear pus....huge amounts just poked it in certain places with a needle and the drained like crazy. Eventually only blodd drained which at that point I stopped draining. The other leg I'm treating for bumble it's almost better. She may not be able to ever walk properly again the one swollen leg is so maimed at the hip and leg joints that she cant use it much. Possibly building a wheelchair/sling for her. But other wise yes she doing good getting alot and is alot better.

Hi not sure if this is right place to post but bear with me.
I had a duckling hatch in July two of them had deformed feet. I kept them and tried making ortho shoes for them and placing them in a sling none of whic worked. One died, the other I still have and of course we adore him. His name is Ernie. He has numerous problems; bill did not grow so tongue hangs out all the time and is becoming calloused, wings are stunted with one larger than other, 1 foot is curled up underneath him the other one is stretched out behind him and stiff, I think he only has one air sack. He can move himself a little bit by rocking back and forth and can only swim with supervision as sometimes he will founder or list to port. With all of that he is eating well and growing and a real joy. I keep videos going for him ,take him on swimming adventures as well and he always watches TV with us at night and I keep toys for him. At 6 months he is still pretty much a duckling and doesn’t quack but peeps. I’m wondering if anyone knows where I can learn more about what his peeps mean. I know his panic peep and his just letting you know I here peep , but I would like to learn more.
While he has his issues I think he has the best quality of life possible considering his deformities. He certainly had enriched our lives.

Wow!!! I love that he is loved no matter what!! While I cant exactly help you in the form of being an experienced teacher, I did want to say Hi, let you know you're not alone. We have a sweet lil Joy, a duckling born unable to walk. We made her a walker with wheels, which helped at 1st. She doesnt have all the deformities your lil guy has, but is definately battling her share of issues. I've had the vet tell me to just put her down, but she just tried too hard, she was lively & her personality so vibrant. I've also had so many people guiding us through helping her. She has become my baby, and needs 24hour care. Her brothers and sisters are literally 5 times her size now. My biggest worry is if shes in pain. Her legs have day by day, began bowing backwards. I'm so glad you chose life for him, I know its alot of work, but to him it's the world. I'm still learning her peeps, which are so quiet. Just wanted to let you know I think you're awesome,:clap and.... you're not alone.:hugs
