Ducks keep screaming!

2½ months old? - They are ducknagers!
Remember how you were as a teenager? - You might have been loud and showed off and provoked - and that is exactly what those girls are doing right now. They have just discovered their mature voice.
Just wait for another month and they will be much, much quieter!
Food, water or entertainment will not help much and be careful with Pekin ducks and food. They tend to overeat, become fat and develop hip and leg problems quickly. The Pekin duck was bred to grow fast so it can be "harvested" early and no one cared for their legs…
You have three ducknagers? - I have thirteen running around my house and you are correct: They are much louder than roosters, every. single. one. of them! 🤯
Your ducklings are about the same age than mine: 2020 Fall Ducklings 🦆💖

This is great to know. That means my two younger girls might settle down (they're only like 14 weeks). And I'll have to watch out for my Pekin's weight. Anyone know how to check for duck obesity?? lol

Your ducks are 3 weeks older than mine, they're 11 weeks old but have already started to lay eggs and seduce the drakes. - Indian Runners and White Layers.
If your Pekin starts to avoid walking around and sits down most of the day she is very likely obese. I made good experiences with a mixed flock, consisting of Runners and other ducks, the active Runners motivate the other ducks to be way more active than usually. It is hilarious to see the large White Layers running together with the Runner ducks, the look like big white slippers on short legs…

Pekins are the loudest of ducks. I had one female pekin, she was louder than all 5 of my roosters. They will quiet down in the future, but they will still quack loud. Just beware that your neighbors don’t hate you.

I used to think my Pekin was loud until the other two came around. My blue runner and Blue Swedish will quack LOUDLY after dark if she even hears us inside or sees us through the windows. And by 6:30am, her and my Blue Swedish are screaming to be let out. They make my Pekin look like a shy, quiet girl (but she is indeed loud). I worry about the neighbors, but we have roosters around so not SO much.

You have not heart my Black Swedish with their screeching voices! And the two mutt ducks who are the result of a liaison between my White Layer duck and a Buff Orpington drake. The latter sneak up behind you while you do something in the garden, issue a loud »RAAB, RAAB, RAAB!« and enjoy when you throw your tools high into the air…

I now want Swedish ducks just to hear them quack 😂 I think it’s funny to go out and hear ducks start quacking extremely loud and sound like they are laughing at everything. I just never have really wanted anymore ducks, the pekins were kinda dumb and prone to predators. But I’ve heard others are not. I got rid of my pekins for that reason, I might get ducks again one day.

If you ever want to have ducks again, consider the White Layer breed: They are White as Pekin ducks but much smaller and as a layer breed, they won't develop the hip and leg problems that so often plague their Peking sisters and brothers. They are, however as goofy and funny as Pekin ducks, but much more active. And if you want really active ducks, try Runners, they are also the most smartest ducks i have encountered so far. My Swedish ducks don't mostly don't quack, they screech, like in the video below, where Pinball Duck is afraid that i would take her eggs away, but instead i give her two extras:

I don’t really mind if they lay well or not. I one day want wood ducks, but I don’t have the time for a set up for any exotic animals right now. I really want runners because I love their stance, I want them to be show quality so they’re extra tall. I also want them to be smart because I can’t stand animals that run into everything lol, my pekins would literally freak out and run into trees. What’s the cleanest out of the breeds you have? I think I would call ducks one of the messiest birds there are.

I find that ducks 'train' you
When they want SOMETHING they start screaming like that.
Just like kittens yowl until you put food in the bowl.

My ducks know they go inside at a certain time, if I forget or I'm 5 minutes late you can bet they'll let me know how displeased they are.

Usually they only do it on queue (hearing a door, hearing footsteps, hearing you talk, seeing you through a window) so if you can control these queues it may help alleviate things.

As others have said here too - some ducks love being loud (my appleyard doesn't know what shut up means) and some I don't know if I've heard a quack their entire grownup life (my little runner).
