We had a drake with this issue this summer. It was one of my 4-H kids drake. Let's just say it was a learning experience for us all and the "talk" of the whole fair week!! The kids saved the tip in a glass jar to show off to their friends!! Teens can be so gross!! They also named theirs Dick Less and his girlfriend was Jane .

What about taking him to a veterinarian. I am fixing a prolapsed penis in a duck (called priapism) tomorrow. It is most likely that amputation is not needed.

This isn't really important but one time my mucovey Drake just got dry from a bath and was standing by the girls pen and all of a sudden he sneezed /coughed and 'it' just fell out!!! I guess Drake's and men are a lot alike I just wanted to share the story of the duck that's not very in control of his thing.

Nowadays he's so top heavy he can't control most things. Such as walking. And 'other' things

I have a large buff male that has this issue. I don't think I can handle this myself though. He's awful precious. I sure would appreciate any help..

If it's an option, it would be best to have an avian vet examine him.

If not, the first section of this newsletter addresses penis paralysis: http://www.majesticwaterfowl.org/mmissue28.htm. They recommend making clean swimming water available and administering antibiotics as follows "Baytril 22 mg, once daily for at least 7 days to rule out any possible infection".

I haven't found a vet that would see him. Where would I get the antibiotics?

A farm store like Tractor Supply or Rural King may carry it - Baytril is a brand name for Enrofloxacin.

Thanks again for your help. You guys are great. We have him isolated with a clean swimming pool and he will go in a separate house tonight. I haven't found a source for Baytril yet though.
