Ducks & Mycoplasma

I've come to the sad realization that the chickens in my flock have Mycoplasma aka chronic upper respiratory illness. I have Khaki Campbells, Muscovy, and Pomeranian Saddleback Geese as well that have all, at some point, been exposed to this nasty nastiness. What's the prognosis for them? Is it passable to waterfowl? Does anyone have any articles they can send my way? Everything I'm finding only refers to chickens and turkeys, but some articles do mention it's passable to waterfowl and gamebirds. Help please!

Yes, it is passable to waterfowl. MG is a disease that can affect most birds. Even wild birds like finches can get it.

Sort of. You can take some throat swabs and send them off to this lab to have it processed. Did you have your chickens tested to confirm MG and not one of the other respiratory illnesses? If no, you probably want to start by having a respiratory panel run, to see if it even is MG you're dealing with. A lot of the respiratory chicken diseases, waterfowl cannot get.

I haven't had them tested actually, so that's a very good point. I guess I just kind of assumed, but my waterfowl has never gotten sick even though my chickens have. How expensive is testing like this? This would probably be a good place to start.

Thanks so much! Hopefully it isn't something as nasty as MG, but unfortunately I'm not very optimistic for me chickees. Thanks for all your help, hopefully this will shine some light on my current situation!
