Hey ya'll so my female rouen mostly and the others join in but not as loud, quacks at 4 or 5am for seemingly no reason. Sometimes its a rythmic "honk" and sometimes its just yelling. Their feeder is full and they have water. I cant let them out of their pen yet as the dogs typically go first and my german shepherd is my duck killer so we keep him especially seperate. Im at the point where i hear them so often so early everyday that my sanity is reaching limit. I love them so much, but im getting to the point i just wanna rehome them and start over with my muscovies my friend whom i started my duck adventure with hates that i wanna give them away and makes it known when i talk about it, then i feel aweful and suck it up another day. I dont sleep anymore :( i dont know what to do.

Is it completely dark inside your coop? your not leaving a light on for them in other words?

Could something be moving around that time of the morning? a predator around? Motions lights may help outside if you think it could be preds. My Runners and Buffs are my quackers and they can be loud but usually I don't hear them till light of day so I am wondering if something isn't setting yours off?

They refuse to go in the coop. Ever. They just walk around and sleep in the enclosed pen. I live in the city so i have super close neighbors they have their porch lights on all the time, but mine arent bright enough to make much difference. Ive only seen one outdoor cat and that was one time andni never saw it again. We have no preditory birds so im not surewhat could be spooking them :/

So now you need to herd them in every night just walk behind them with your arms out it may take a few times but they pick it up quick. Leaving them out will eventually get them killed a friend on here just lost a chicken from letting them stay out and a raccoon reached into the fence grabbed a chicken and eat her through the fence. And another lost one of her WH ducks to a coon night before last reaching in and pulling as much as possible through fencing. Believe me you have coons, possums, coyotes, foxes and Owls you've just never see them until one day you see the carnage they leave behind.

Good door and make sure they have good ventilation also they generate a lot of heat and moisture and there has to be a way for it to escape.

Your on the right track.
