Ducks still not laying ?

I've thought about getting some I think it's called egg maker or something and adding it with there food when they eat so I won't have worry about leaving it out

It is not always easy or straightforward - even with my ducks, keeping them all squared away so that whoever needs special treats or treatment gets what they need without the others interfering. But they depend on us figuring something out for them.

I have had a secret rendezvous with Romy sometimes to give her extra calcium, while the others cannot see us. it's cute, because she is really good sneaking away from them when she sees me with her bowl of "special."

You do not need a drake to have your duck hen lay eggs. I have no need for a drake because I just need eggs for eating.THe Drakes will just wear your Duck Hens down.

Yes I know I don't need drakes for then to lay but I hatch eggs, so I kinda need them for ducklings

My ducks didn't lay at all the first year. We got our first eggs in very early spring (March if I remember correctly). I would definitely add hens to your flock ASAP if you have 5 drakes to 2 hens. They may not be interested in mating now, most mating is done in the spring and they would have been too young to be interested, but you could have some serious issues next spring when they are all adults.

I have a question. (I can't figure out how to start my own thread) I bought two female runners that I was told lay an egg a day but they haven't it has been 2 weeks. It has being the 20-30c here (this week ot should warm up to mid 40/50s) I put them separate from my young Muscovy ducks. Are they lonely? Should I put them back with the other ducks? It took 1.5 weeks before they even ate the food in their dish, though they still poop and drink (in the warmer days eating something out of the ground) When I had them with the young Muscovys they ate a little food, but the runner gales are not agressive when it comes to night time feeding. I am getting a male runner to put in there pin, hopefully to keep them company. What are your thoughts? If they don't lay soon the person I bought them from offered to swap them with a new pair. I am also thinking about just buying 4 or 5 more but this time 1 month olds $10 each!
Oh I am feeding grower mix with what they used to eat I am buying today organic pride layer which is what the ducks used to get before me. I will also get some oyster shells (do clam shells work? My dad goes clam digging alot).

Oh and the pin they are in now is near a somewhat busy road, if I moved them to the back with the other ducks it would be alot quiter. The front pin is just bigger and has a little seasonal watering hole.

You don't mention how old they are, but they had already started laying before you purchased them, they are probably just adjusting to their new home. Our egg production dropped off dramatically both when we moved to our current home, (we went at least a couple weeks without any eggs and we were getting 5-6 a day out of 6 hens), and when we added to our flock this year. You also have to make sure they aren't hiding them somewhere. They can be very sneaky, burying them (in straw), hiding them behind things etc.

Egg question here...I found an agg this morning. And my duck just layed another one just now. And its squishy. Fully formed but soft luke jelly. How did this happen? Should it have not been layed until tomorrow? Cuz I didn't think they can lay twice a day!!!
