Ducks with leg problems!

You know I was so paranoid about having chickens bc I have heard the same thing. But I guess with our 3 50-60lb dogs outside a lot, and a few acres of clearing between us & the woods, it keeps things at bay. They have to travel a long way without cover. It's the hawks that always made me nervous for the chickens. But I have an Amazing rooster!!! He is good with us, but very defensive of his girls!! He will even come at me if he thinks I'm hurting them. But never otherwise. And it's almost impossible to get him to take meds or eat treats bc he is absolutely insistent that the girls need to eat it. He will carry crickets back to them. It's adorable really! And he's been nice to the ducks so far. I'm keeping it supervised for now though!!
The raccoon had skin, but no fur. It was awful! The flies were terrible. And when I thought it was a puppy I was hysterical.

I bet that was nasty to see. I use to think raccoons were so cute till I saw what they can do to our poultry. We had a rabies epidemic here about 8 yrs ago which wiped out a lot of the raccoon pop but they are making a comeback Just have to learn to live with the preds and just keep our flock safe from them.

I absolutely Loved what I did! But I was too attached to it. It was a very emotional line of work for me. I do think it's funny how I've ended up with all these domesticated birds that I'm unfamiliar with. I could take care of an elephant So much easier than the chickens & ducks. Hahaha.
One of the raccoons I worked with was bipolar I swear. He was super sweet, but then his wild animal switch would flip without warning. Always made me nervous to leash him on.
