I have both leghorns and legbars and tons of crosses. If you use Legbar hens under a light brown leghorn cock you'll get single barred males and unbarred females, from there I'd breed them to each other to try to suss out the cream gene in a non crested male and breed that back to the f1 hens.
The crest is easy to get rid of. My f2 leghorn X legbar crosses have about 50% with small crests. They go fast. You'll have more trouble losing the barring. If you like bantams look into cream light brown Dutch Bantams. You could cross into brown leghorn Bantams to get better leghorn type but they're pretty similar.
