Dude, Am I the ONLY one who thinks this is just plain WRONG!?!?

I would also like the answer to that!

Personally, I don't like it because it is kind of Goth and is probably intended to be disturbing. I also think the design is lacking--it just looks like a chicken foot with something stuck on it and a chain added. I'd love to see something in which the foot is integral to the design and everything blends together, to be honest. I just want to add that people sell nutria foot and tooth keychains and jewelry around here and I see nothing wrong with them, but I'll be honest--those things are works of art and this does not strike me as being made to the same standard.

I have to agree, I didn't like the composition of the piece, I would have done it differently.

It almost looks like she made it as an afterthought, ya know?

Some really neat (disturbing, odd, weird, pretty) things can be done with body parts, but this one just looks "cheap" IMO.

eta - I have SO been wanting an aligator head for so long - been meaning to break down and buy one, just not sure what size I want (or where exactly to put it

) I have some gator feet, been meaning to make something out of those, too.

It is just plain disgusting, that being said, I also think rabbit's feet for good luck is just as disgusting.

But, I can say, I work as a cashier for a living...... If someone had a bracelet like that on their wrist, I wouldn't put their change in their hand, I would lay it on the counter.

when I worked at the elementary school, one of the teachers was commenting on how she liked my bracelet one day - until she looked closer and saw the beads were carved bone made into skulls (interspersed with other beads). She didn't care much for my bracelet after that.

Now, I'm not goth (I never have been goth) I just like skulls, bones and taxidermy items and creating "different" stuff.

I never understood the reasoning behind a rabbit's foot for good luck....

Mojo Chick'nn :

Ok, other than the "barfs" and "crazy" and "disgusting"....

What exactly (curious, not snitty) is wrong with the bracelet?

I mean, let's be specific, what is it about the bracelet that makes you want to throw up? It is a chicken foot - it is dried and not fresh, it is simply weird to most folks, but I just don't see why it is specifically so nasty to everyone.

Is it the fact that it came from a chicken or a living creature? (and yeah, most folks here probably use leather or eat meat, etc... so think about that)

Is it because it has "voodoo, hoodoo" references?

Is it because everyone else said "Eww" so you figure you ought to also say "eww"?

truly curious.....

I'm asking because, personally, I have always been fascinated by such things, myself. I do realize that I am a bit different than the majority of folks on here, but still - I didn't think it was THAT bad, even to most folks. I'm a little surprized by the reactions to it.

meri

For me personally, the 'ick' factor of this bracelet is the thought of wearing a dead chicken foot against my skin...on purpose....
It has NOTHING to do with any kind of 'voodoo' as has been mentioned, and I have NOTHING against other cultures, past present or future, who use animal parts in ways that I don't.
I have dealt with plenty of dead animals in my years as a bow hunter, and there wasn't much I would want to make into jewelry from the last few elk I dressed out.

I know my opinion is just that-my opinion-and I wouldn't have any kind of problem with someone else wearing the chicken foot bracelet, but you won't find it on my wrist.

edt to ad: Oh wait, I just thought of something I want to make jewelry out of from the elk...the ivory teeth!!! They are BEAUTIFUL!!

I am also a seller on Etsy, I make stuffed toys, mostly, and I like to see what other sellers come up with (scoping out the competition ya know

)

I just searched 'chicken' and that was the 3rd or 4th listing. I was looking for stuffed chickens. (toys, not stuffed as in preserved)
(I am the OP)

Very cool. It worked: it freaked me out because it looked like an old dead hand. I think the addition of the button is bad design too, it works all by itself, without embellishment.

It was so much easier to shock the establishment back in my day. All you had to do was wear a pair of jeans with holes in the knees.
