Dude, Am I the ONLY one who thinks this is just plain WRONG!?!?

cool, I agree....also interesting and unique

I may not wear a chicken foot as a bracelet, but as a decoration, yes. I won't buy chicken feet, I only use the ones from our extra roos that we process, that way I know how they were treated. Same for the meat for me.

I've dried many chicken feet in borax, and I've sold a couple to my LARP group. Did you know that green EE feet turn black when they're dried in borax?

At least I know that I'm not the only one who "recycles" here. We have two domestic cat skins (roadkill), two very pretty fox pelts (roadkill), a few dried snake skins (mainly copperheads that were going after the chickens), skulls from processed rabbits, and two documented road kill owls. We have one tail, both sets of wings, both skulls, and one claw from the owls. We also have permission to have them from our states USDA office.

I, for one, will continue to re-cycle, although not to make jewelry out of. Unless I had someone special order something.

Mojo Chick'n :

Ok, other than the "barfs" and "crazy" and "disgusting"....

What exactly (curious, not snitty) is wrong with the bracelet?

I mean, let's be specific, what is it about the bracelet that makes you want to throw up? It is a chicken foot - it is dried and not fresh, it is simply weird to most folks, but I just don't see why it is specifically so nasty to everyone.

Is it the fact that it came from a chicken or a living creature? (and yeah, most folks here probably use leather or eat meat, etc... so think about that)

Is it because it has "voodoo, hoodoo" references?

Is it because everyone else said "Eww" so you figure you ought to also say "eww"?

truly curious.....

I'm asking because, personally, I have always been fascinated by such things, myself. I do realize that I am a bit different than the majority of folks on here, but still - I didn't think it was THAT bad, even to most folks. I'm a little surprized by the reactions to it.

I say ew because I prefer my animals alive. Personal choice. I think it is ugly, creepy and waxy looking and it just groses me out.

It's called using everything so as to not be wasteful, and also, creativity.

I got blasted because I was mistaken for someone who did send an apparently offensive message.

As I said before, it makes me uncomfortable, but all I have to do to deal with it is NOT buy it!

Edited to add: On etsy, sellers often select others sellers items to be featured on the front page, in collections. I am pretty sure that seller will never select any of my items, because she/he thinks I was the one who was rude. That is another aspect the frustrates me. Being selected is an honor, and superb advertising.

Not something I would buy.

But if someone else had it, I would have no issue with it. I completely understand that some people might like it - just not my taste

I did not know that

I'll have to pay attention if it ever comes up.

My cat once killed a bat out behind our house, so I wanted to know what a bat skull looked like - tiniest skull I've ever seen (that was my first time processing). I still have it here, somewhere.

How did you do your snake skins? I did mine in a recipe I found online, made the skin very soft and pliable - took a long time, but it was worth it. It's been awhile, so I'd have to go look for the recipe again - was glycerin and salt water, or something like that. Then you keep it flat between two boards until it is finished (take it out and check it now and then).

I also have an owl's foot - poor thing got squished by a car, it's feet were all that survived.
