Due April 11th, anyone with me??? I hear peeping!

I got the humidity up to 65% which is great but not the temp is swinging from 96-to 98.8 or 99 even. I haven't touched it so I'm not sure why it is doing that all of a sudden. It is very maddening actually.........

BUT on a happy note, I do have a pip this morning!!!!

Okay Bec, deep breaths.......sit on your hands. Better still, back away from the incubator. You do NOT want to open it for 3 days.

Temp will be fine, adjusting is very difficult on an LG so stop fiddling with it. Somewhere on here there was a pic of how to adapt it so it won't be so sensitive to every twitch- spend the next 2 days looking for that thread!

Congrats on the pip, must be one of the bantams?

Congrats on your pip Bec! :)
I think it's best if you just leave everything alone. I really messed up my first hatch by "helping" too much. In hind sight I would have been much better off just leaving the thing alone.

I could be completely wrong, but my thought on your temperature is that even though it's a little low, it's not tragic at this point. The eggs need the heat to develop and grow. At this point they are already developed, they are just waiting to make thier entrance to the world.
I also use an LG and they are really touchy. The tinyest movement will make huge swings and you have to wait quite a while (I usually give it overnight), before making another change.

I am looking forward to seeing pictures of the new chicks!!!! :)

I went into lockdown last night. I decided to take the turner out and just give it another try with the eggs laying on the mesh. I had a bad experience last time with an egg carton (user error) and it's made me very nervous about trying that again. This time I rolled a small towel up and corralled the eggs into one area with it. I'm hoping it'll keep them together instead of shooting all over the incubator after the first hatch.

When I left for work this morning, my temperature was a little low but I didn't want to mess with it since i wouldn't be there to monitor it. My humidity was at 65%, but there was steam on the windows so I pulled the second plug for a little more airflow.
No rocking or peeping just yet, but I'm not going to get impatient. I still have two days til day 21. (I have to say that because last time I was a maniac and was really upset because nothing was happening on day 19 LOL).

It won't be long

Bec, back away from the bator. Go play with 'Lua.

MacLeod and his girls are out today- I didn't latch the gate well enough last night. But I couldn't find the nosey, independentd black hen Lucy until a minute ago- hiding behind some stuff on the porch.

AND sitting on two eggs! You weren't kidding about the broodiness in these hens!

I got the eggs away from her!

Lots of peeping, I think we will name that one Peeper!

Here's a pic of my bator last night. Don't mind the temp and humidity, it went all crazy on me yesterday and my hygrometer is 11% below!

You are going to have babies soon!

Deap breathes. Everything should be fine. Just watch them for "shrink wrapping" because of the low humidity. I had 3 babies I helped last time. I know some people don't agree with that. But I spent a lot of money on those eggs and only a couple hatched from them. I am not the type of person who sits idioly by.....I'm a do'er. It gets me in trouble a lot too.

You should have let her have them!!! Then you would have 2 new babies without any work!!!

Thanks for all the support, everyone here has been awesome!! I am NOT touching it anymore! I just checked and the pip hole is getting bigger Yay!!! But that is the only one, no one else is pipping yet. I hear peeping but I don't know if it is from Peeper or someone else! I have the humidity at 60% right now so thats good, right?

You're doing fine Bec.

I had someone talking me down every second of my last hatch. It's amazing how much calmer this time. You'll have a baby bouncin around in no time!
