Same here. Had to take out a lot that weren't fertile or didn't develop. After leaving my dad with the bator and telling him to stick like a nail under the cover of the homemade bator to crack it open, he stick a whole water bottle in there and I think the temp. drop might of killed some of the eggs.
Although on the good side, we have 4 Amer. eggs(1 pipping soon) that were taken from broody hen who abandoned them, 1 Red Star/RIR egg, and 1 Buff Orp/Cochin, which were also abandoned by broody hen. And right now we have 1 Red Star/RIR and 1 Buff Orp/Cochin egg that were put in bator after removing some that didn't develop, and are both developing. So I'm hoping that 6(more or less) out of 12 should make it, depending on how many make it past hatching.

One of my Easter Eggers has poked out a little spot on the shell while I was at work today!!! Question, though - I thought they were supposed to poke a little hole, but this one has only pushed a little spot out but there's not an actual hole yet... Do you think he/she gave up? Is ok, but resting? oiy...

I had one do that, sat there all day, another pipped and hatched, and it must have gotten a bit of motivation from that, now I have two hatched and two pipped. Its only day 19.

Just took another egg out of the turner for day 18. Our black Amer./splash Cochin egg has still not pipped(well that's what my dad told me...he might of not seen the pip, if it's small at first). Wish I could be there to see it; I would like to candle it one last time to see if it has pipped the air cell. I hate leaving the bator with someone else! I'm the only one in my family who goes on BYC(or is registered on here at all and goes on everyday if I can!

) so I'm the one who knows quite a lot about incubating chicken eggs...at least more than anyone in my family, really.

So t5he bator and eggs are with my dad while I'm at mom's house and I told him to call me if the egg pips, zips, hatches, or if there are any other updates.
