Dumb Question about Mixing Breeds...Barred Rock With Spitzhauben

I'm still fairly new to chickens. Last year I ordered straight run chicks, figuring I'd average about 50/50. Well, out of the 15 Barred Rocks and Appenzeller Spizhaubens that I got, ALL but two where roosters!!!!!! I really like my Spitzhaubens...I have 2 hens and 2 roosters. Out of the Barred Rocks ALL were roosters and all but one is now in my freezer. He is a very nice rooster, so I don't want to lose him, but he likes my Spitzhauben hens...if you know what I mean. Anyway, in an effort to get some more hens, I though about hatching some of the Spitzhauben eggs in the spring, which would most likely be a 50/50 mix with the Barred Rock. I could get some pure breds due to the other two roosters. I was just wondering, if anyone has ever crossed Spitzhaubens with anything. they are a smaller chicken and my one worry is the eggs size. Could the eggs potentially be too big for them to be able to lay, since the Rock eggs are larger?

Thanks

I don't know the about the two breeds crossed, I am sure someone on here does know.

BUT, about the egg size, I don't think it will to be too hard for the hen to lay, right now I have a mix of dual purpose birds and the EE's are fairly petite compared to the others. They lay on occasion the huge double yolkers and didn't need an episiotomy.

My Spitz is now mating whatever girls the BR hasn't claimed and sometimes tries his luck w/ the BRs girls and is quickly put in his place. I haven't tried to hatch any of the eggs of the chickens he has bred because most of what he bred are bantams. I think they'd be kinda cute though.

bump, I have a Barred Rock and Spitz Hen, I'm trying to hatch one now. Does anyone know what it will turn out to look like? Does it have the afro? I hope so.
Well did you know that the maker of the hoppinseller Spitz hobbin wanted to finish the breed or go on with a breed by mixing it with barred rock. It's like a really it's a really it was a threatened breed and the guy who invented it wanted to mix it with barred rocks to make it a sex to sex them.

Actually I was wrong it wasn't as bar that someone was going to put the Bard barring into. But I think that's interesting with the oppenzeller and a barred rock.
