Dumb question....

Haha NO you're right.. I really DON'T think she does!! I do find her very slow and immature compared to Daisy??!! Even in eating she's not good?? She'll take something away from Daisy.. then turn around and just throw it on the ground?? She doesn't barely eat?? Daisy is a little pig!! So honestly.. NO I don't know about my poor little Olivia!!?? I'm praying when she starts laying that she'll wake up!!?? I'm also hoping she'll get more tame. I've been told that after a chicken starts laying, their entire personality can change?? Don't know if that's true...But I sure hope it is cause she does NOT like being held or pet. It upsets me cause I got them both at a week old and thought that by doing this and handling them all the time, that they'd get used to it and would be VERY tame!!?? NOT the case at all. Daisy is better and will let you hold her and will sit on your lap.. But that's because I put her there.. NOT cause she comes on her own!! She'd do just fine WITHOUT being picked up either believe me!! I'm very disappointed (though I love them to death anyway) that they're not super tame and jump on my lap, follow me around etc etc..Wish I knew HOW to change this?? Well this was my book!! Sorry.. I get carried away when it comes to "chicken chat"!! Best wishes to you!!!!

Yeah I have several layers and none of them want to be touched at all. I have to sneak up on them or corner them to catch them. But my cornish cross meat birds are too tame and friendly! They love to fly up on my lap and sit there or walk on up to my shoulder and look around. And I DON'T want them being pets!

Awwww gosh I can sure understand why! I personally could never have meat birds.. Just can't do it.. but I don't knock anyone either.. to each their own! Let me tell you though, since I've had my babies.. I can't eat chicken anymore!! Just can't do it!! Lol To be honest, I'm really not a big "meat" eater anymore really. I just don't care for it all the time..I still eat meat.. Just not everyday.. I'd give ANYTHING for my birds to get MORE tame!! I am going to start sitting out there more often than I have been lately and see if that helps!! I will FORCE myself on them..like it or not!! Lol lol

OMG I just looked up the Cornish meat birds (didn't know what they were) and realized they're those GORGEOUS big white birds!! OMG.. what I'd GIVE to have at least ONE of those!! They're SO pretty!! Oh God I LOVE them!!!!!!

They are BEAUTIFUL birds and really so sweet BUT they are bred to gain weight quickly and they do. Gaining so quickly they soon run into health problems and don't live real long even if they aren't killed to eat. Me and some friends were just having a discussion on slaughtering animals to eat - who can and does and who can't do that. I said that I think that EVERYBODY that eats meat and eggs should know -face to face- what it takes to put that meat on their plate. Something, a living breathing being must bleed and die. But that's a whole different discussion.
Here's a pic of one of my girls...

Well that is what they were put here for. I just think it is pretty sad how the "commercial" meat industry has gone off the rails on how they raise and slaughter animals meant for food or chickens kept to lay "supermarket" eggs.

Anyway, sorry to upset you. We got way off topic.

Ooooh NO NO.. NO worries!! I just go WAY off the deep end when it comes to animals of ANY kind! I guess I'm what you'd call a HUGE fanatic!! :
:( :( :(
And yes somehow our conversation shifted! Lol But it was NOT your fault! No harm done! I've enjoyed chatting.. ALWAYS enjoy chatting about chickens!! Lol

I have enjoyed it too. Maybe Daisy or Olivia will come around and act like a respectable pet someday. lol If I had any pointers on that I'd sure help you out. :)

Awwww I know you would, and I appreciate it. All we can do is hope and I'm gonna just be "in their face" a lot more too!! Hahaha Take care and best of luck to you!!
